COVID-19 Business Relief Fund

Mt. Airy CDC has been working hard to support our local businesses who are suffering from the immediate effects of COVID-19. Effective Monday, March 16th, Mayor Jim Kenney has asked all non-essential Philadelphia businesses to close, and all restaurants to move to call-in, pickup service only. We have been collecting data on how businesses are being impacted, and we've shared it with State Senator Art Haywood and City Councilmember Derek Green, as a matter of informing important upcoming financial relief policy.

With that in mind, Mt. Airy CDC has also put together a COVID-19 Business Relief Fund. We are asking neighbors and people who support local business to contribute any amount possible; there is nothing too big or too small, and it is fully tax deductible.

As money comes in, we will allocate it once a week to businesses based on the requests we have and reviewed by a committee whose job is to ensure equitable funding across those requests. We are hoping that, with enough support, we will be able to alleviate some of the burden for as many business owners as possible. Your contributions will support, amongst other things:

  • Rent or utilities
  • Lost tips or wages
  • Other set costs businesses accrue each month

When you contribute, you will be added to an email list to receive updates on which businesses you supported through your contributions.

If you have any questions, please email Sarajane Blair: sblair@mtairycdc.org.
